BIBU information session was organized on 16 Oct (Tue) in the Science Majors Week 2018. The HKUST Information Day 2018 was organized on 29 September (Sat) and BIBU program also participated in this big day. The BIBU Program Director, Prof. YH WONG, conducted a talk titled “New Opportunities in Biotechnology and Business” during the Information Day to the visitors, mainly local secondary students and their parents. BIBU organized program induction session on 22 August 2018 (Wed). It aims at welcoming new students who are admitted via non-JUPAS with intake year 2018-19, including those who are admitted to the Program via School-based, and providing them with program introduction.

The BIBU Program Director, Prof. YH WONG, took the lead in the induction to welcome new and conduct the presentation on introduction of the School of Science and School of Business and Management, curriculum, extracurricular activities etc while a few current BIBU students also participated in the program induction as a peer mentor in order to have sharing with the new comers.

The HKUST JUPAS admission fair was organized on 27 May 2018 (Sun) at InnoCenter in Kowloon Tong. It aimed at providing a platform for local high school students, parents and teachers to know more about the UG programs and enhancing their awareness of Schools in HKUST. BIBU program participated in the admission fair and representatives were sent to manage the program booth in order to share the program information and U-life with the visitors.

A BIBU Year-2 student, Marcus YEE, excelled in the EY Academy CSR Challenge 2018 and received the Best Team Award - Champion & Most Favorite Video (A.I.) Team. With the theme “AI and FinTech”, the challenge aimed to help students cultivate entrepreneurial skills by working on real-life business projects, with advice provided by professionals and mentors. BIBU and MSc in BIOT students visited the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) on 5 Dec 2017 aiming at strengthening their industrial understanding and assisting them in career planning. Students were given an introduction of Science Park and Biomedical Technology (BMT) cluster, followed by three Lab visits. Special thanks to Science Park for organizing this field trip and arranging Lab visits to conduct sharing for the students.
